In 1861 She already ran/owned the Lodging House, as she is given in the census as 'Lodging House Keeper'. There was also a servant (Ruth Parker (17) who was also from the same place as Rebecca and also a Lodger, Theodore N. Flintoff who is given as 'BA Emmanuel College' (23) from 'Bares' Surrey. He looks like the same person who joined Woodbury Hill Reformatory School for Boys in Worcetershire; going on to run it as Chaplain and manager until 1896.
In 1871 they are still living in Jesus Lane; William is given as a Whitesmith. They have living there: Francis Wood (25, unmarried) studying for a BA; Eliza Sarah Wood who is a 'Bleacher's daughter' (38, unmarried) and given as 'sister' to the head of the household - it seems that this could be 'sister in law'; Benjamin Wood (28, unmarried) Bleacher and Dyer also given as 'brother'. Each of the Woods was born in Antwerp, Belgium.
The servant is Rachel Jacob (19), given as 'niece', born in the same place as Rebecca and (as shown by the 1891 census) is Rebecca's niece, not William's.
