STOLE FOR YEARS; GIVEN BOND Pleading guilty to nine charges of theft from his -employers, extending from 1936 to 1940, William Thomas Bernard Brady, 39, was bound over by Judge Markell at the Quarter Sessions to-day. The guilty man's solicitor said that some employees seemed unable to distinguish between stealing and "scrounging." Brady, it was stated, had been con victed of receiving in 1931, and on that occasion also had been released on bond. Judge Markell to-day ordered him to enter into a good behavior bond for three years and to make restitu tion of £84 to Mauri Bros, and Thompson whom he had robbed while in their employment as an engineer. The judge said that the Interest of the community would be best served if Brady was allowed to con tinue in work so that he could com pensate the firm and also support his sick wife and three children. Stole From Workmates, Too Detective-Constable H. J. Hughes, of North Sydney, gave evidence that he retrieved £500 worth of refriger ating parts which had been stolen by Brady from Mauri Bros, and Thomp son, as well as from another engin eering firm by whom Brady previ ously had been employed. Brady had assembled the stolen parts at home and sold the complet ed refrigerators below the market value. After Brady's position with Mauri Bros, and Thompson was terminated in 1940, added Detective Hughes, he secured a position with another en gineering firm and within a fort night had stolen tools from tills em ployer and also from his work mates. William Thomas Bernard Brady, 39, engineer, who pleaded guilty to eight charges of having stolen a quantity of goods, was bound over to be of good behaviour for three years, and was ordered to pay compensation.
